This is a reference sheet for my picori character, Pinatari. They came about after a roommate made me play Zelda: Minish Cap for the first time. I felt an immediate sense of resonance with the picori as a species. I like the idea of being small, insignificant, yet able to change the world in subtle ways. It's simultaneously the ideal of solitude and the need to not be isolated. Plus, they're very cute, both in the manga and in the game. I'm not exactly into the idea of self-representing as one, because tanukis are much more resonant, but I still had to make a character.
The idea behind Pinatari is that he wants to be a knight, but is too small to be noticed by the people who do recruiting for that kind of thing. So, with a mix of improvised and magically-shrunken equipment, they go around, defeating monsters and doing small quests.
In the game, several of the dungeons take place on the micro scale. The enemies within are normal-sized beetles, puddles become vast lakes, and the bosses are always entirely mundane enemies, but you fight them while tiny. Common fodder such as an Octorok become giant, aggressive foes; the pebbles they spit going from stinging nuisances to massive, crushing boulders. This is the sort of nonsense Pinatari consciously chooses to deal with as an occupation because... well, I guess some people are just cool like that.
